Japan stocks lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 1.67%
Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Power, Textile and Shipbuilding sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 1.67%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Toppan Printing Co., Ltd. (TYO:7911), which rose 5.73% or 150.00 points to trade at 2,767.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (TYO:7912) added 3.69% or 140.00 points to end at 3,930.00 and Sekisui House, Ltd. (TYO:1928) was up 1.59% or 43.50 points to 2,771.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Resona Holdings, Inc. (TYO:8308), which fell 7.47% or 59.20 points to trade at 733.80 at the close. Chiba Bank Ltd (TYO:8331) declined 7.33% or 76.00 points to end at 961.00 and Nippon Yusen K.K (TYO:9101) was down 6.58% or 239.00 points to 3,395.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 3042 to 594 and 198 ended unchanged.
Shares in Toppan Printing Co., Ltd. (TYO:7911) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 5.73% or 150.00 to 2,767.00. Shares in Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (TYO:7912) rose to 5-year highs; rising 3.69% or 140.00 to 3,930.00. Shares in Sekisui House, Ltd. (TYO:1928) rose to all time highs; up 1.59% or 43.50 to 2,771.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 3.58% to 17.94 a new 1-month high.
Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.90% or 0.68 to $75.04 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.66% or 0.54 to hit $81.05 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.22% or 4.05 to trade at $1,838.65 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.14% to 136.33, while EUR/JPY rose 0.32% to 144.51.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 105.11.
